Join author Mark Gerzon and members of Right Relationship Boulder for an intimate and moving conversation about how the history of our valley affects each of us in ways that may surprise us. As one of the characters in Mark’s novel/screenplay “Just Neighbors” says: “The past is not past at all.”
To open the evening, Mark will take us on a virtual walking tour through Boulder County to explore how our history is alive in today’s local and national headlines. Then Members of Right Relationship Boulder will share a powerful presentation about Boulder’s direct involvement in the Sand Creek Massacre and how our City Government is now negotiating to partner with the tribes who were displaced.
Recently the City of Boulder has been in consultation with Cheyenne and Arapaho Nations about what should be done with the site east of the city where the infamous Fort Chambers was erected in 1864. Fort Chambers served as the jumping-off point for Boulder County’s volunteer militia before their participation in the Sand Creek Massacre.
